The Lies We Tell
Your stuck, one lie lead to the next now you can’t get out if only you told the truth from the beginning wouldn’t end up here. This is the feeling that too many people feel these days. You don’t realize it but we live in a world that is full of lies, people lie to their friends, and family. The people you love the most will be affected by your lies and still we lie almost every day. In “The lie” they show this in a great way, the lie that he makes doesn’t just effect him but his whole family, the worst lies effect more then just you.
As shown through the whole story they plot is comedic. It starts out with normalcy, which is going him to the Whitehill School, and this is normal because generations of his family went to this school before so it was expected that he would fallow his family tradition. Then when he doesn’t do or pass the test that gets him into the school he doesn’t tell his parents that he wasn’t accepted, because of this lie the parents still believe he is going to the Whitehill School. This was the first lie in the story and it cares out through the whole story. Even though it seems like it is a small lie it is something that affects his whole family by breaking the chain of generations going to this school. As the story goes on we realize that the Eli the boy who was going to go to this school is much different then his family, to were his mom always feels that she needs to be better then everyone else, or his dad who just wants to keep a family tradition up. Eli keeps this a secret from his parents because he wants to be accepted by them so he lies to get approval. In the end his parent come to the conclusion that it is his chose where her goes to school. After that every thing goes back to how it normally. It’s fallows the plot line of the comedy.
The lie is a great story that has lots of things that make you think in it. We always tend to lie to the people that we care about the most and in Eli’s case it is his parents. When a lie effects more then you like it did in the lie it makes it worse because for every person you get involved you have to fix it.
